The next day we decided on a lighter day and, to add to our guided tours, Kurt had managed to get another car to test drive for a few hours. We got the Berlin tour including Kurt's gym and surrounding area. We were also taken to see what is now the world's biggest building in terms of floor-space area covered, the Berlin inner-city Templehof Airport! We went inside and, although it is still used for a few small airlines, it is largely unused so there is this enormous building with hardly any people in it. Amazing! The only building that ever surpassed it's floorspace was The World Trade Centre.

We also wandered around the area where Christopher Isherwood, the author of Cabaret lived and through a fruit and vegetable market where Jonathan and Kurt did some shopping for our next surprise, a dinner party that evening with some of their English-speaking friends. As you can see, Kurt created the most beautiful table and the dinner was equally delicious.

on our last day we visited Schloss Charlottenburg, a magnificent palace with the most beautifully laid out French Baroque gardens. We wandered around the outside of the palace and through the gardens ending up at the edge of a lake where we sat and people-watched for a while. It was a beautiful blue-sky day so we ended up sitting outside for ages rather than going to look inside the palace.

After that we met up with Jonathan and Kurt again to wander through a market and into the Tiergarten, a huge park and to the beer-garden in the park for lunch.

Annie and I then spent the rest of the day walking through more of the park, through the Brandenburg gate

And ending up at Checkpoint Charlie.

The next day we had breakfast and headed off to the airport and home to London. It was a great weekend in Berlin made better to be able to see it in the sunshine. Definitely worth a visit!
