The last leg of our Namibian adventure was to be on board the Desert Express, an overnight journey on a really luxurious train. Along the way we stopped for a short guided walk through the desert vegetation and sundowner drinks. During our gastronomic dinner we stopped at a siding for a few hours so that we could go star-gazing followed by coffee in the lounge-car and then bed. The cabins were huge by train standards and even had power-showers in the bathrooms! The next morning after breakfast we stopped again, this time to go on a game drive in a private reserve where we managed to get up really close to various types of buck, giraffe and a family of three rhino's. Then it was back to Windhoek for a few hours before being driven back to the airport for our flight back to Johannesburg. |
