Sesriem Canyon - Namibia

Dune Sea   Sesriem Canyon   Marble Mountains   Air Taxi

At the National Park entrance / exit was a small shop where we stopped to buy ice-creams, a must for this temperature. Then it was time for more amazing scenery, the Sesriem Canyon which is 1 kilometre long, 30 metres deep and, in the days of ox-wagons, was the number of leather ox-wagon thongs that needed to be joined together to draw water out of the canyon. Sesriem translates to "Six Thongs". Standing at the top of this pretty big canyon looking out at the surrounding landscape and the relative size of Annie against the canyon makes us realise how insignificant we really are.
