Annie and I left a few days earlier than David to spend the time visiting family and friends in Johannesburg. Our timing was especially to be able to celebrate my grandmother's 92nd birthday with her. She is an amazing lady who still has her own apartment, helps out at The Benevolent Society twice a week and entertains her family and friends at her home on a regular basis. I hope we can all still be as active as my granny when we reach our old age!!! We celebrated her birthday by going to a wonderful restaurant called The Singing Fig with her brother, Joe, and his wife, Anne, my aunt, Jossy, uncle, Selwyn, cousins, Leigh and Illan and Illan's girlfriend Pamela.

While in Johannesburg we stayed at The Michelangelo Hotel on Sandton Square. Absolute luxury and the perfect place to be for family and friends to visit as there are an abundance of restaurants and coffee-shops on the square, so many that the only place we went to more than once was the coffee-lounge in the hotel itself. We also visited the homes of some of our family where we were treated to more scrumptious meals. We had a great time catching up with everyone and seeing just about everyone we know in Johannesburg.

David arrived the day before we were due to leave Johannesburg for Durban so that he could experience the luxury of The Michelangelo as well as the shopping centres of Sandton Square and City. He also managed to buy himself a few bits and pieces (-:
