November 2004

Zambian Adventure As it was Annie's 40th birthday in 2004 we decided to do something special to celebrate the occasion. I was already in South Africa as my father had been through major heart surgery and Annie came to join me for a two week holiday. For THE birthday we decided on a long weekend at The Victoria Falls staying on the Zambian side.

The night before we left my parents put on an amazing birthday dinner. This was a double birthday celebration, Annie's 40th on the 21st of November and David's birthday on the 10th of November. My Aunt Sandra (my Dad's sister) and Uncle David from the USA had also decided to come over to South Africa to see that my Dad recovered properly from his surgery.

Very early the next morning we headed off to the extremely luxurious Royal Livingstone Hotel on the outskirts of Livingston, Zambia. The hotel is situated on the edge of "The Mighty Zambezi" and with views of the mist from the Vic Falls, known as "The Smoke that Thunders" or in local dialect, "Mosi-oa-Tunya". What an amazing place to be and stay. The hotel is magnificent and the setting even more-so. The room continued the feeling of luxury and the hotel staff were really friendly, it was as if their only purpose was to make us happy!

We arrived in the early afternoon so headed straight off to see The Falls from the Zambian side. While we were in Zambia and Zimbabwe we managed to see The Falls from every angle and side. Join us on our adventure by clicking on the Zambian Vic Falls link below...
